The Big Lots discount retail chain has announced it is closing its Leesburg store later this spring. A big closing sign hangs over the doorway and clearance sales have started.
Big Lots is located in the Battlefield Shopping Center off Edwards Ferry Road NE.
It’s in the same center with the Dick’s Sporting Goods, the Five Guys and Chipotle restaurants and many other retailers.
The Burn spoke with an employee at the store who said the plan is to close sometime in May — perhaps around the third week of the month.
No word on what future tenant might take the massive nearly 37,000 s.f. space that Big Lots inhabits.
The Battlefield Shopping Center has made headlines recently for some high profile new tenants on the way in — including a Sprouts Farmers Market grocery store, a Boot Barn western apparel store, and a Wingstop restaurant.
