Exclusive: Corsica Wine Bar in the works for Reston Town Center

It looks like a new upscale wine bar is in the works for the Reston Town Center — likely taking over the spot vacated by Mon Ami Gabi.

It’s called Corsica and it’s looking at moving into the roughly 7,200 s.f. space left vacant when Mon Ami closed last November.

While no one will officially confirm anything for us, our reporting shows that Corsica is a new wine bar concept coming from the same folks behind the popular Barcelona Wine Bar brand.

The very first Corsica location is in the works and should be opening soon in the River North (RiNo) Art District in Denver, Colorado. That’s just a few blocks away from a Barcelona location.

“The restaurant is expected to be a natural progression of Barcelona’s ethos, delving into inspiration from outside of Spain,” the company’s marketing department told “What Now Denver,” a local news outlet.

Here is more about the concept: “Corsica is an escapist small-plates restaurant inspired by the rustic coasts of France, Italy, and the namesake mediterranean island that lies between them. The menu, led by James Beard Award-winning Chef Patrick Connolly, draws from the European coastal villages it is inspired by while celebrating local, seasonal ingredients. Corsica, born from the team behind Barcelona Wine Bar, will boast a compelling wine list that features, among many others, Coastal European and Corsican wines. The cocktail program will focus on the effortlessly fun and delicious aperitivo, amaro, and spritz culture of the Mediterranean.”

As most foodies in the area know, there is also a Barcelona Wine Bar at the Reston Town Center, meaning it would be good synergy for the company to bring a sister concept like Corsica to the center.

We contacted the Corsica location in Denver and got a response from its public relations team.

“We work with the team at Barcelona Wine Bar on PR efforts … thanks so much for reaching out,” wrote Victoria Hagen with Feed Media. “We are indeed working with the team on opening Corsica in Denver, but we don’t have any information about further openings at this time.”

Despite no confirmation of future locations, we found three Corsica Wine Bar limited liability corporations (LLCs) filed with the state of Delaware. One is Corsica Bar Rino — that’s the Denver location.

The other two are Corsica Bar Reston and Corsica Bar Darien — as in Darien, Connecticut which also has a nearby Barcelona Wine Bar location.

The former Mon Ami Gabi spot at the Reston Town Center that could become the future site of Corsica Wine Bar.

We reached out to representatives for the Reston Town Center requesting more information on Corsica — but they said it wasn’t something they were able to discuss yet.

So there you have it — nothing is officially confirmed, but some digging around has turned up plenty of evidence that Corsica Wine Bar is headed to Reston. And as big fans of Barcelona Wine Bar, we couldn’t be happier at the news.
