Doughtnut fans in central Ashburn — and specifically the Broadlands neighborhood — have been eagerly awaiting the upcoming opening of the new Duck Donuts location. Now, we have an update on the plans.
Construction is underway inside the space and the Duck Donuts sign was recently installed on the facade over the entrance.
The Burn first broke the news about Duck coming to Ashburn last June — on National Donut Day of all days. It’s opening in a 1,200 s.f. spot in the Broadlands Village Center.
That’s the retail center at the intersection of Broadlands Boulevard and Claiborne Parkway with the LA Fitness, the Aldi grocery store, as well as Bruster’s Real Ice Cream, Los Toltecos and many other retailers.
We spoke with the owners of the Broadlands store today and they said they are aiming for an early May opening if everything stays on track.
Duck Donuts was founded in 2006 in Duck, North Carolina and has now grown to more than 100 locations stretching across the country.
There are several scattered around Northern Virginia, including Loudoun’s first Duck location in South Riding, which opened last year.
