Large new Hallmark store planned for Leesburg shopping center

It appears Leesburg is about to get a brand new — and apparently very large — Hallmark store. The new store is coming to the Leesburg Plaza on East Market Street.

The Burn has learned that Hallmark is planning to take the space that was previously home to the Books-A-Million bookstore. Books-A-Million closed last September.

That space is big — roughly 6,100 s.f. — which means plenty of room not only for Hallmark’s greeting cards, but also its wrapping paper and bows, home decor items, gifts, toys, and more.

By comparison, the Hallmark store in the Ashburn Village Shopping Center is 4,000 s.f. and the one in the South Riding Market Square is about 3,800 s.f.

The deal is brand new, so no word yet on when the new Leesburg Hallmark will open. But considering the transition from a bookstore to a greeting card and gift shop shouldn’t involve a lot of major renovations, we’d expect an opening sooner rather than later.
