The sign has gone up at Peri-Peri Original, a new peri-peri chicken restaurant coming to South Riding. The restaurant is expected to open later this year in the South Riding Market Square shopping plaza.
The new restaurant will be tucked into a spot between Moe’s Southwest Grill and the upcoming Foster’s Grille location.
Peri-peri is a spicy sauce with roots on the African continent. Peri-Peri chicken is basted in peri-peri sauce and then roasted or grilled. It’s the basis of the well-known Nando’s Peri-Peri international restaurant chain with some 1,200 locations.
Meanwhile, Peri-Peri Original is based here in the DMV and, according to its website, has six locations open with another eight in the works.
There’s already one Peri-Peri Original location in Loudoun County — in the Broadlands Village Shopping Center in Ashburn.
A spokesperson for the brand told The Burn they would like to open the new South Riding location in late October or November if all goes smoothly with construction and opening preps.
