Ashburn getting a Korean BBQ restaurant

A banner has gone up touting a new Korean barbecue restaurant in the works for Ashburn. Details are scarce at this point, but it’s coming to the Goose Creek Village shopping center off Belmont Ridge Road at Sycolin Road.

The sign says Gogigogo Korean BBQ is “opening soon” in between Passion Fin and the Harris Teeter supermarket. It also indicates bowls and ramen will be on the menu as well.

The sign is hanging over the space that was previously the Thai Bistro restaurant, and the East Wind China Bistro before that.

Korean barbecue restaurants are popular around Northern Virginia, but there aren’t many out here in Loudoun County.

One that opened recently is Gogi 92, a KBBQ restaurant at the Village at Leesburg. It opened last June.

Many Korean barbecue restaurants feature tables with large burners in the middle. Guests order various meats and other foods and then they are cooked right in the center of the table. Common meats include steak, short ribs and Korean style bacon.

Not coincidentally, “gogi” is Korean for meat. The specific plans and features for the new Ashburn restaurant haven’t been released yet.

We have messages into the folks behind Gogigogo and also to the landlords at Goose Creek Village. We are working to round up more information, so stay tuned.
