Sneak Peek: Inside the upcoming Kiwa Korean Grill in Sterling

We stopped by the new Kiwa Korean Grill restaurant that is coming to Sterling and got a quick peek inside. We’re expecting the Korean BBQ restaurant to announce an opening date any day now.

Workers were still putting the finishing touches on the restaurant located in the Cascades Overlook center. The dining room features the requisite burners in the center of each table — typical for a KBBQ joint.

Some of the tables also had what we assume are hood-style vents overhead to whisk away steam, or smoke, or cooking odors.

At Korean BBQs, customers usually order various plates of meat which they then cook themselves on the grill in the middle of the table.

It was just a few days ago that The Burn shared a first look at the Kiwa menu. You can check out that story here.

As we’ve been reporting, Korean BBQ restaurants are all the rage right now in Loudoun. There’s Gogi 92 at the Village at Leesburg. There’s Kiwa about to open. There’s Honey Pig coming to Ashburn Farm. There’s Khan’s coming to Sterling. There’s Lansdowne Korean BBQ coming to the Lansdowne Town Center. And there’s an as-yet-unamed KBBQ restaurant coming to the South Riding/Stone Ridge area.

There’s also GogiGoGo at Goose Creek Village in Ashburn, but you don’t cook your own meats there. Put all those together, and that’s a lot of barbecue.

Still no official word when Kiwa will open. We heard possibly next week, but that’s not official, so we are still waiting for the big announcement.
