We always enjoy seeing new brands coming into the area and we just got wind of another Nashville-style hot chicken sandwich joint that apparently has big plans for Northern Virginia.
It’s called The Red Bird and it specializes in hot chicken sandwiches along with the ever-popular crinkle cut fries.
The first location in the works is coming to an end-cap spot in Vienna at the Cedar Park Shopping Center. The space used to be occupied by a McDonald’s restaurant. Signage is up in the window touting the future location.
But that’s just the start. A representative for The Red Bird tells The Burn that they are also pursuing locations in Ashburn, Reston, Falls Church, and Arlington.
The Vienna store is expected to open hopefully by the end of the year, with Reston coming soon after. Plans call for the Ashburn store to come online sometime in 2024.
The food at Red Bird — both chicken sandwiches and also chicken tenders — are available in six different spice levels.
A typical sandwich comes with the chicken on a potato bun, topped with pickles, a housemade cilantro slaw and one of their sauces. You can see the menu for The Red Bird below.
In the meanwhile, the news about The Red Bird shows that there is no slow down in the wave of new hot chicken brands across the DMV.
