Sign up at Ashburn’s new Mr. Sushi & Mrs. Roll Japanese restaurant

The new Mr. Sushi & Mrs. Roll restaurant coming to the Ashburn Village Shopping Center has installed its new sign up over the entranceway. And now we have a rough idea of when the owners hope to open.

Back in February, The Burn first reported that 2,800 s.f. space was slated to be the latest location for Mr. Sushi. It’s taken over the space vacated by El Rey Tolteca, a Mexican restaurant.

Construction inside the space is underway and — according to the team working at the brand’s Lansdowne restaurant — the target is to open the new location in December.

Longtime residents of Ashburn may recall that Mr. Sushi & Mrs. Roll first made a name for itself operating out of a small space inside the Lotte Plaza Market off Ashburn Village Boulevard.

In 2017, the restaurant moved and opened a full-service sit-down and carry-out restaurant in the Lansdowne Town Center. Now, they are ready to expand with a second location.

Eagle-eyed readers may also notice that the full name of the brand has changed a little. The location in Lansdowne is called Mr. Sushi & Mrs. Roll Japanese & Korean Grill. The new location is called Mr. Sushi & Mrs. Roll Japanese Ramen & Hibachi.

It’s unclear whether the menus at the two locations will be the same or not, but the addition of “ramen” and “hibachi” isn’t surprising considering those two concepts are both hot trends in the restaurant industry currently.
