Sign is up at Mancha Cocina Mexicana in Leesburg

At last, we now know the official name of the new Mexican restaurant that has been in the works for the past year in Leesburg. It’s called Mancha Cocina Mexicana — that’s according to the sign that was recently installed.

The restaurant is coming to the Fort Evans Plaza shopping center — home to the Hobby Lobby and the Home Depot.

But otherwise, Mancha has been something of a mystery. Work appeared to be underway back in October 2022 when we first reported on it, but then nothing seemed to happen for months.

At the time, we used permits and online documents to connect it to company with restaurants in Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia. But we weren’t able to get confirmation or any details on the Leesburg location.

Now, there’s movement at the space again. Besides the new sign, work is underway inside where tables and booths are stacked up and waiting to be assembled.

Otherwise, details are still scarce. The name Mancha Cocina Mexicana translates as Mancha Mexican Kitchen. Mancha itself is a region of Spain.

We have a message in to the owners for more information about their plans.
