Latin American street food restaurant Maizal opens in Reston

A new restaurant specializing in Latin American street food has finally opened its doors in Reston. It’s called Maizal and it has been in the works for more than a year.

The Burn first reported on Maizal and its new location in the Plaza America shopping center last November.

It’s taken a spot in between the Grill Kabob restaurant and the upcoming Taim Mediterranean Kitchen.

Maizal opened earlier this month, serving up various varieties of empanadas, tacos, quesadillas, and nachos — what they call “street cravings.” You can see the menu at the Maizal website here.

Maizal is a local brand expanding around Virginia and DC, according to its website.

Besides the Reston location, there are two in the District, plus one in Ballston, and another down in Charlottesville. There is a sixth location in the works for Arlington at Pentagon City.
