Huge new tennis center in Loudoun one step closer to reality

The United States Tennis Association today announced a major milestone in the organization’s efforts to bring a large new racquet sport center to Loudoun County.

The USTA is celebrating the decision by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors to approve the zoning application for the proposed Village at Clear Springs in Leesburg.

The development is a planned residential community on a parcel of land directly south of Heritage High School, tucked in between Evergreen Mills Road and the Dulles Greenway, running south to Shreve Mill Road.

The main amenity in the community would be the USTA Mid-Atlantic Tennis Campus — a multi-million dollar center that would feature indoor and outdoor tennis and pickleball courts. The Burn first reported on the plans back in 2022.

The center will be “open to the public and will feature 21 outdoor tennis courts, including a stadium center court, 10 indoor tennis courts, 8 outdoor pickleball courts and 12 indoor pickleball courts which will also be used for youth tennis, cardio tennis and beginner tennis instruction for adults,” the announcement reads. “The tennis campus will feature space for fitness, wellness programs, community gatherings and large-scale competitions and events.”

The USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation is still raising funds for the tennis center project, which is expected to cost $42 million. Corporate sponsors and donors are being sought and a groundbreaking is being planned for 2025.
