BKD Bagels opens Purcellville shop this weekend

BKD Bagels, the Leesburg-based bagel shop, is opening its second location this weekend. Saturday, May 28, is the big day for the new store in the Purcellville Gateway shopping center.

As The Burn reported back in November, BKD has taken over the freestanding building that used to house the Mediter-rustic Cuisine restaurant in P’ville.

The menu at BKD features roughly a dozen different types of bagel, including Everything, Salt, Garlic, and Jalapeño-Cheddar. They offer a variety of curated bagel sandwiches, such as the Lucky Penny, the Slim Shady, and the Clubhouse.

They also have a build-your-own sandwich option, plus sides, pastries and various flavors of cream cheese. You can see the full BKD Bagels menu here.

BKD was originally a purveyor of small batch bagels that they sold online to customers who had them delivered or picked them up. After roughly a year, the BKD team made the jump to their first storefront last November.

The shop opened in a building on South King Street in Leesburg that had previously been a grilled cheese sandwich restaurant. In its first weekend in business, BKD saw long lines.

Now, they’re ready to launch Store No. 2, and they are confident they are ready. They’ve got some experienced staff from the Leesburg store working at the new location and are hoping for smooth sailing Saturday morning.

This place will fail because the parking lot and access to that building is a giant nightmare… it could possibly be the worst location to have a shop that will rely heavily on people having access to get in and out of the store quickly as part of their morning routine.

Honestly, I prefer Bagel Joy. Wish that got a permanent location in the area.

Those prices are out of this world insane. $11, $12 for a breakfast sandwich? I tried the one in Leesburg a few months ago and I thought it was expensive, they give you just 1 egg, 1 slice of cheese and the bagel is fluffy inside and squishes down to nothing. I wish them luck but I don’t know how long they’re going to last charging all that for a breakfast sandwich.

Agree, probably the worst location within that shopping center. And have to deal with Starbucks drive thru traffic. I ordered a salt bagel, lady at counter had trouble finding because all the salt had come off the bagel. It was 8am, the bagel was very dry as if it was made the day before. A lot of SQ footage that’s not needed.
