New Wawa on track for fall opening in Loudoun County

Loudoun County’s second Wawa location has “gone vertical” meaning the framing and walls have started to go up. According to the company’s website, the store between Ashburn and Sterling is on track for a Fall 2021 opening.

The Burn first reported on the new location more than three years ago — in March 2018. It’s under construction at the intersection of Nokes Boulevard and Russell Branch Parkway. That’s just west of State Road 28 at Nokes, part of the new Kincora development in the area.

Wawa is an iconic convenience store brand founded in Pennsylvania in 1964. It has an avid following among regular customers who seek the stores out for its menu of hoagie (or sub) sandwiches. Meatball subs, cheesesteaks and many other sandwiches fill the menu, as well as breakfast items, soups, salads, ice cream and more. You can see the full Wawa menu here.

The first Wawa location in Loudoun County opened back in 2017 off Old Ox Road east of 28. A third Wawa is reportedly in the works for the South Riding area off Highway 50.

Besides Wawa, a number of other similar large convenience brands with onsite restaurants have been expanding in Loudoun County. New Sheetz stores are opening up in multiple locations, while Royal Farms has opened two spots in Loudoun. The local brand Filling Co. Gas & Grub has two locations open in Ashburn and a third under construction. Even 7-Eleven is getting in the game with a store in Purcellville that features a Raise the Roost fried chicken restaurant inside.
