Starbucks store in southern Loudoun getting new look

Nearly all restaurants like to keep their appearance sharp and up to date with the latest looks for the brand. Starbucks — in particular  — is known for the regular reimagining of its stores. And now one Loudoun County location is slated for a major makeover.

We’re talking about the Starbucks at the East Gate Marketplace shopping center along Highway 50 in Chantilly. That’s the same center with the Social House and Velocity Wings, a Harris Teeter grocery store, and the giant King Spa facility.

In the makeover, the Starbucks will see its service area expand — meaning a longer counter with more room for employees to move about and prepare the many coffees, beverages, and food items on the Sbux menu.

It will also reportedly see a reduction in inside seating for customers — dropping from roughly 35 seats to about 16, according to plans. This fits with the trend towards carry out, takeaway and drive-thru that is impacting the quick service restaurant industry as a whole, and especially coffee houses.

As The Burn has been reporting, many Starbucks location in Loudoun have moved to new locations or built buildings of their own in order to add drive-thru lanes. In Sterling, The Human Bean opened last year offering only drive-thru and carry out. There’s no dining room at all.

No word on when the work at the Chantilly Starbucks will start, but when it does, it should move quickly. A Starbucks at the Cascades Marketplace in Sterling has also been undergoing a refurbishment and the whole process was only expected to take a few weeks.
