Kiwa Korean Grill starts soft opening in Sterling this weekend

It’s been a long wait, but we finally got the news this morning. Kiwa Korean Grill — the new Korean BBQ in Sterling — will open its doors this weekend.

Kiwa will be holding what’s known as a soft opening. Not as much fanfare, limited hours, etc. in order to give the new restaurant and the new staff time to make sure everything is running smoothly. The hope is that guests will be generous in spirit if there are hiccups.

Kiwa, which is located in the Cascades Marketplace retail center, will open Saturday, May 6 starting at 4 p.m.

We’ve been expecting an opening date for sometime now, and in recent days, The Burn has shared a first look at the restaurant’s menu (see that here) as well as a sneak peek inside (see that story here).

Kiwa has taken over the space that was former Marumen, a ramen-centric restaurant. It’s located next door to Burtons Grill & Bar and the Urbano Modern Italian restaurant.

At a Korean BBQ like Kiwa, guests usually order from a selection of meats which are then served raw and cooked on a grill in the center of the table. There is also rice and other side dishes to go with the meal.

Regular readers know this is the latest in a long line of Korean BBQ restaurants coming to Loudoun County. Others are in the works for elsewhere in Sterling, as well as Ashburn, Lansdowne and South Riding.
