Bowling and entertainment center Pinstack exploring Loudoun

A bowling and entertainment center brand from Texas is actively exploring opening its first east coast location here in Loudoun County. It’s proposed spot — the long gestating Kincora project near Route 7 and State Road 28.

The company is called Pinstack and  — according to its website — they have five locations — all in Texas.

Pinstack is a bowling center, but more in the vein of a Dave & Busters. Besides bowling lanes, the Texas locations offer attractions such as rock climbing walls, bumper cars, laser tag, a video game arcade, and more.

They also have a full restaurant and bar. You can check out the food line-up here.

Pinstack has filed some preliminary paperwork with Loudoun County. Right now, it’s in the pre-meeting stage — which is very early. Basically the brand is just trying to determine whether the Kincora location will be right for them.

One of the things they are asking is whether they can get permission to have the size and style of sign they want (see photo at top). Signage is very important to many companies and Loudoun County has famously restrictive sign rules.

If the plans were to go through, Pinstack would be building its own nearly 55,000 s.f. building at the southwest corner of Russell Branch Parkway and Knowledge Drive. Images filed with the county show a two-story building with what appears to be an outside deck on the second level.

Most local resident know about the slow-moving Kincora. The developers have a huge piece of property along Russell Branch Parkway. Plans have long called for residential housing as well as a hotel, restaurants, shops, and more.

The development is also supposed to be the future home of the Northern Virginia Science Center and the National Museum of Intelligence and Special Operations.

So far, some residential housing has been built at Kincora. And at the southern end of the property, there is a fire station, a church, and a Wawa gas station/convenience store.

No timeline for how fast Pinstack might move — if the deal gets solidified. But here’s hoping this is the start of some long awaited new amenities and attractions at Kincora.
