Açai bowls are all the rage in the fast-casual restaurant world right now, and a new brand called Nautical Bowls has just opened its first Loudoun County location.
The new store – which started a soft opening on Friday — is in the Lansdowne Town Center shopping plaza. It’s the first of two locations announced for Loudoun so far — and the first in the greater DC market.
Nautical Bowls has taken over the corner space vacated by Qwench, a juice and smoothie shop that also served açai bowls.
The Burn first reported on the deal to bring Nautical Bowls here back in June. This was quickly followed by news of a second location in the works at the Dulles 28 Centre in Sterling.
Many local smoothie shops — such as Robek’s and Smoothie King — have added açai bowls to their menus. And new restaurants dedicated to bowls have started appearing too.
Besides Nautical Bowls, this includes the local brand South Block that recently opened at One Loudoun. Meanwhile, another growing brand called Rush Bowls has announced their are opening at the Brambleton Town Center in Ashburn.
